FAQs
-
Yes! Our Kids Summer Day Camp is a faith-based program similar to what many churches call Vacation Bible School (VBS). We’ve refreshed the name to better welcome families from the broader community.
-
We have a fun-filled schedule packed with engaging activities, upbeat music, and captivating Bible stories that will inspire and ignite your child’s trust in God.
At the RoC Kids Summer Camp, your child will learn to trust in God through all of life’s challenges. Our goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where you can grow in your faith, make new friends, and create lasting memories.
-
Preschool is ages birth-4 years. However, the program itself is tailored for 3-4 yr olds with appropriate programming and crafts. Younger children are welcome to join but please keep this into consideration. At least one parent or caregiver must stay with their child/children at all times. This program requires parent participation and you will be rotating through each activity including worship, bible adventures, craft time, outdoor games and lunch. Parents are not allowed to leave the group at any time unless accompanied by a background checked volunteer or staff member.
-
After check-in, preschoolers and caregivers will be escorted into the worship center to participate in our opening ceremony with all campers and staff. They will then be excused to rotate through a special program tailored to a 3-4yr old. This includes bible story, crafts, sensory activities, snack time, outdoor games and playground time. Lunch is provided for everyone, including caregivers and will be served outside in a special designated area weather permitting. The day will end with an all-camper closing ceremony in the chapel. Parents must check their preschooler out just like all other aged campers. Please note that caregivers must participate in this program and must stay with their preschooler at all times. If an accommodation needs to take place, you will be escorted by a background checked staff or volunteer.
-
Lunch is provided for all participants on the premises, including parents or caregivers of our preschool program. A separate dining section will be provided for this entire group. Lunch entails a healthy serving of vegetables, protein and fruit. There will be vegetarian options available. Please note any dietary preferences or allergies when registering online and notify staff at check in daily if your child has a severe allergy.
-
Absolutely! We are happy to accommodate dietary needs as best we can. Please be sure to let us know about any allergies, restrictions, or special requests when you register your child(ren).
-
It is our desire that kids of all abilities can participate in kids camp. However, we do not have the staff to accommodate children that require individual assistance to participate. We ask that a caregiver or parent be with their child at all times, rotating through whichever program best fits their intellectual ability. Please notify our camp staff during registration online if you need this accommodation or have questions regarding our policy. All school age children that are dropped off must be potty trained, as our staff are not able to offer bathroom assistance.
-
Yes! All activities will take place at RoC Fellowship Church (12707 NE San Rafael St, Portland, OR 97230) and the adjacent field next to the church. Children will not leave the property at any time. Our staff and volunteers will ensure a safe and secure environment throughout VBS.
-
To help us maintain a secure environment for all children, only background-checked staff and volunteers are allowed to move freely with the kids during activities.
-
Check-in is between 9:00–9:10 AM, and our opening skit will begin promptly at 9:15 AM.
Parents can return for pick-up between 1:00–1:15 PM. -
Your child’s safety is our top priority. All of our VBS staff and volunteers have completed child protection training and have passed comprehensive background checks through Adventist Screening Verification, the official screening program of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This process includes criminal background checks and child protection training, and is renewed every three years. Additionally, we follow strict safety protocols, such as the “two-adult rule”, ensuring that no child is ever alone with a single adult. These measures are in place to provide a secure and nurturing environment for every child in our care.
